TNT’s Teen Titans Casting Call

Looks like the Teen Titans TV series on TNT is moving forward with a pilot order!

Geoff Johns himself confirmed “We shoot the pilot next year!”

Here’s how the Hollywood Reporter reported the upcoming series: “Based on characters from DC Comics, Titans revolves around a group of young superheroes-to-be who are recruited from every corner of the DC universe. The action-themed drama centers on Dick Grayson, who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new superheroes including Starfire, Raven and more. The show is described as a dramatic adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book titles ever.”

So who will play these young (maybe not so teenaged) Titans? Looks like it’s time for another casting call! I’ve assembled a few characters likely to appear on the show, with my top picks as to who should play them….

RobertGorrie01

Robert Gorrie as Dick Grayson (Nightwing)

A relative unknown, Robert Gorrie nailed a tricky recast role as Matthew Bunchanan on One Life To Live. He’s an actor to watch, with the chops and charm needed to play the Dick Grayson we all know and love. It doesn’t hurt that he’s pretty much a dead ringer for the part.

AnnaLynneMcCord01 AnnaLynneMcCord02

AnnaLynn McCord as Starfire

She played spoiled vixen Naomi Clark for five seasons on The CW’s 90210. And more recently, she showed a more mature side as single mom Heather on TNT’s Dallas reboot. She’s certainly hot enough to represent the fiery Starfire, but can also exudes the passion and presense of our favorite Tamaranian Princess.

TaissaFarmiga02

TaissaFarmiga

Taissa Farmiga as Raven

Farmiga is sullen teen incarnate as Violet Harmon on season one of American Horror Story. In season three, she plays reluctant witch Zoe Benson. She’s got the dark demeanor down, which makes her a perfect Raven.

JessicaStroup01
JessicaStroup02

Jessica Stroup as Donna Troy

A dead ringer for Donna Troy, Stroup made her mark as savvy nice girl Erin Silver on The CW’s 90210. More recently, she graced TV screens on Fox’s The Following. She certainly has the looks and poise to portray Donna’s strength and warmth.

CorbinBleu01
CorbinBleu02

Corbin Bleu as Cyborg

Yeah, he was that guy in High School Musical, but he’s matured quite a bit as an actor since then… with dramatic turns on shows like Psych, Franklin & Bash, The Good Wife and One Life To Live. He’s certainly primed to play a super-hero, and could do justice to our Vic Stone.

DylanOBrien02
DylanOBrien01

Dylan O’Brien as Beast Boy

Frequently the best thing about MTV’s Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien was the first person I thought of to play the most comedic member of the Titans. But Dylan is more than just goofball charm; He can really capture Gar Logan’s insecure side as well.

ChloeGraceMoretz01 ChloeGraceMoretz02

Chloë Grace Moretz as Terra

She’s played violent teenager Carolyn Stoddard in Darks Shadows and also killed it as Hit Girl in the Kick Ass movies. And she’d totally rock the role of Tara Markov.

JRBourne01JRBourne03

JR Borne as Deathstroke

JR Bourne made his mark in the Bourne movie franchise, but also played shady characters on Revenge, The Secret Circle and Teen Wolf. Bourne is perfect to play the original version of Slade Wilson – the dangerous, complicated merc with a “code.”

DanielSharman

Daniel Sharman as Joseph Wilson (Jericho)

Sharman immediately captured hearts as the fragile Isaac Lahey on MTV’s Teen Wolf, but has been keeping busy with roles in movies and television (The Originals, The Immortals, and more). He’s perfect to play the sensitive hero known as Jericho.

KiernanShipka01 KiernanShipka02
Kiernan Shipka as Rose Wilson

Kiernan instantly impressed audiences as precocious Sally Draper on AMC’s Mad Men.
She’d be spot-on as the reckless daughter of Deathstroke.

With your permission, casting ideas here were included (and attributed) in my Titans dream cast post, which has combed the web for best choices for a live Titans drama:

Nice! So funny we chose some of the same photos. I like some of your choices but I fear the actors are too old. My rule was to stay under 30, because actors age as the series progresses, too. Since they are starting with Nightwing, I assumed they needed to be believable as college age.

Yeah – most of the suggestions in my post came from other Titans casting threads on the web. Mostly these were discussions from 2007. It will be interesting to see who they pick! I think casting the Titans well will be difficult. When the first Xmen movie came out, I was struck by how the casting was nearly perfect, especially for Wolverine.
