Ravager I
Alias: Grant Wilson
| The first Ravager - Grant Wilson - tests his mettle in NEW TEEN TITANS #2 [1980]. |
|
|
Son of Deathstroke, The Terminator
Grant Wilson is the son of Slade Wilson (See Deathstroke, the Terminator) and Adeline Kane Wilson. The couple met while in service in the United States Army (Adeline had been Slade's instructor in guerilla warfare). Sparks ignited immediately between the two, and they quickly fell in love and wed. Shortly thereafter, Adeline gave birth to a son, Grant. Slade continued on active duty, and volunteered for a medical experiment in resisting truth serums. The experiment had an unforeseen side effect: it gave Slade enhanced strength and heightened reflexes. Shortly after this, Adeline gave birth to a second son, Joseph.

Slade soon was discharged from the army. He took up hunting for awhile, but it failed to quench his thirst for the life he once led. Unknown to his wife and family, Slade secretly became a mercenary known as Deathstroke, the Terminator. Soon, a terrorist known as the Jackal kidnapped a young Joseph Wilson to gain leverage against Slade. This forced Slade to admit to his wife that he was secretly the mercenary known as Deathstroke, the Terminator. Adeline and Slade (outfitted as Deathstroke) together confronted the Jackal. Slade refused to give the Jackal the information he requested, because it would violate his professional code of ethics. Slade gambled he could react fast enough to save his son; He saved Joseph's life, but not before one of Jackal's men had begun to slit his throat. Joseph was now mute.
Adeline, furious at Slade's betrayal and risking her son's life, confronted Slade with a gun. Slade's quick reflexes saved his life, but he lost his right eye due to the gunshot inflicted by his wife. Adeline then divorced Slade and raised her two sons by herself. Grant followed in his father's footsteps and attended military school. Joseph, however, was quite different from his brother; He was a kind, gentle soul who flourished in the arts.

The Ravager
When Grant became a young man, he moved to New York City's East Village, where he fell in with the H.I.V.E. It was Grant's apartment that Starfire crashed into as she escaped her Gordanian captors. His apartment suffered even more damage as the New Teen Titans entered the scene. Grant demanded compensation for damages, but was told he would not be compensated. A bitter and angry man to begin with, Grant's rage toward the Titans festered. Things became worse when to his ex-girlfriend Carol's apartment and tried to get her back. When things began to get rough, Wonder Girl and Starfire intervened and chased Grant away.
The H.I.V.E. offered to amplify Grant's natural abilities artificially and sent him after the Titans, a job Deathstroke, the Terminator initially refused. Grant received powers and a costume reminiscent of his father's and named himself the Ravager. Whereas his father's abilities were amplified so that 90% of his brain capacity was being used, the H.I.V.E. Offered to increase Grant's mental faculties to 100%. This made the powers unstable, a fact the H.I.V.E. knew well in advance.
The Ravager attacked the Titans, who he perceived were responsible for his problems. His attempts to kill them were interrupted by Deathstroke, who was trying to save his son. It was, however, too late. Although the empath Raven was able to soothe his suffering, Grant Wilson died in his father's arms, as his powers proved too taxing for his body.
The H.I.V.E. planned Grant's death in order to make Deathstroke take the contract upon himself, which he did following Grant's death.

Grant Wilson was capable of using 100% of his brain capacity, making him a master tactician. He also has heightened strength, agility, stamina and reflexes.

First appearance of Deathstroke, Wintergreen and Grant as the Ravager in issue #2.
Deathstroke Annual #4 [1995]: a YEAR ONE of Deathstroke; the third Ravager revealed as Slade's half-brother, Wade DeFarge; Wade relates how his hatred for his half-brother grew over the years [a flashback featuring Joe and Grant Wilson and Addie Kane is related]; Addie, now insane, dons the Vigilante costume and joins the fray, only to be shot between the eyes. Addie seemingly dies then rises in a morgue; Deathstroke defeats Ravager, who is brought into custody. Deathstroke believes Addie has died.

Sibling Rivalry
When Slade Wilson's mother died, his father married a woman named Frannie. Shortly afterward, Frannie gave birth to a son named Wade. Shortly after that, Frannie divorced Slade's father. As the two half-brothers grew, Wade always felt inferior to Slade, even though Slade looked out for him.
Wade DeFarge later met Adeline Kane and was immediately taken with her. Adeline was charmed by Wade had a brief relationship with him.
Although the two parted ways, Wade remained bitter over the breakup When Slade met Addie, he had no idea of her past relationship with Wade, nor did Addie know Slade was Wade's half-brother. Still, Slade's marriage to Addie only intensified Wade's bitter feelings towards him.
So much so, that Wade went over the edge and kidnapped Slade's sons, Joseph and Grant, when they were toddlers. Wade was obviously demented, and tried to tell the boys that their father was an evil man. Slade, Addie, Wintergreen and Frannie came to the rescue. As Wade tried to kill Slade, Frannie shot her own son Wade and he plummeted off a cliff. At that time, he was presumed dead. In truth, Wade survived. The cold cauterized his wound.
Wade went underground after that, and joined a mercenary army. He later hired the Jackal to kidnap Joseph Wilson so Slade would be forced to reveal to Addie that he was secretly Deathstroke, The Terminator. The plan was successful, although he did not plan for Joseph's throat to be cut.
Wade stayed underground and planned to exact revenge on Slade and eventually reclaim Addie for himself.

Ravager, Meet Ravager
Wade was later offered $100,000 to kill Slade's estranged daughter, Rose Wilson, by an anonymous source; Wade would do it for free, he declared, just to get revenge on his half-brother. Wade found Rose in Chicago living in a foster home with Margaret and Mark Madison. He brutally killed the Madisons and set his sights on Rose. Rose eluded Wade, just as the Teen Titans arrived, also claiming an anonymous source tipped them off to the fact Rose was in trouble. Just as the Titans got the drop on Ravager, an arrow containing halothane gas exploded and knocked the team out. When they awoke, Rose and the Ravager were missing.
Rose later awoke in Deathstroke's lair, as Slade apologized for abandoning her. With Wintergreen and his family gone, he reached out to Rose as the only family he had left. He claimed that the two of them could erase the painful memories of the Ravagers, and replace them with better ones. Slade offered Wade DeFarge - now tied up and helpless - as Rose's first kill and she accepted. Rose grasped Slade's sword and exacted a final revenge on the man who killed her mother.

SLADE WILSON |

|
Daughter of Deathstroke
Rose is Slade Wilson's estranged daughter from a tryst with former Oriental Clan Princess, Lillian "Sweet Lili" Worth. Slade did not learn Rose was his daughter until she was 14 years old. Their relationship has always been a turbulent one.
When Rose was kidnapped by the third Ravager - Wade DeFarge - her mother was seemingly killed and she learned Slade was her father. Rose was later placed in protective custody with the Titans and became a member of the team. She later left the Titans and embarked on her own - only to return later to become Lian Harper's nanny.
Rose The Ravager: An Eye For An Eye
Sometime later, Rose found a home with foster parents, Margaret and Mark Madison in Chicago. Her happiness was shattered when the third Ravager - Wade DeFarge - arrived and murdered the Madisons - then set his sights on Rose.
Deathstroke conveniently arrived to save his estranged daughter. Awakening later in his lair, Slade offered Rose a chance to erase their bad memories and replace them with better ones. To become his new apprentice as well as re-forge their father-daughter bond. Rose's first act as his new student is to slay the former Ravager, so she could become the new one.
Rose was unaware that Slade hired Wade DeFarge in the first place, in an attempt to push Rose towards him. Slade also pumped her full of the same serum that made him Deathstroke - inducing Rose into a state of psychosis. Formerly estranged from her father, Rose became his eager new student - and adopted the identity of The Ravager. Rose's psychosis reached dangerous new levels as time passed. When she failed her father by hesitating to kill her brother, Jericho, Slade doubted her readiness. To show her loyalty, Rose gouged out her left eye to prove she is just like her father.
Since then, Rose broke free of her father's control and now serves justice as The Ravager.
