The H'San Natall

Pylon revealed as a H'San Natall
in the pages of TEEN TITANS #23 [1998]

The H'San Natall is a very powerful and dangerous race, bent on conquering wherever they can. Their sphere of conquered planets numbered in the thousands. To this end, they use all sorts of tactics in invasion – including bio-engineering their own warriors. Years ago, the H'San Natall enslaved a group of Psion scientists. The Psions performed a number of experiments, including bioengineering the bounty hunter known as Jugular.

Seventeen years ago, the H'San Natall abducted nine women. Each were brought aboard a ship and subjected to scientific testing and impregnation. All but one of these women (Prysm's mother, who would later become Queen) were released with their memories wiped clean. Nine months later, on June 21st, the H'San Natall/human hybrids were born. These children were a new breed of sleeper agents. Their powers lay dormant until their sixteenth birthdays.

Around that time, the H'San Natall planned to abduct the children and bring them back to the planet Titans for mental conditioning. After that, they would return to earth and battle meta-humans of earth, defeating them before the H'San Natall would arrive to conquer the planet. The H'San Natall were only successful in capturing three of their ‘agents'

Isaiah Crockett (who would later become Joto), Toni Monetti (who would later become Argent) and Cody Driscoll (who would later become Risk) are all abducted by the H'San Natall. Just before Crockett was abducted, the Atom was caught in the energy stream and was transported as well. Once on the alien ship, they meet and rescue another earth girl (who would later become Prysm) who was raised in a virtual reality environment that mimics life on earth (based on old TV shows from the 50's). The group of teenagers is able to escape the aliens and return to earth.

During the adventure, the teens learned of their origins. They stayed together, and with the funding of Loren Jupiter, became the latest incarnation of the Teen Titans. Atom decided to remain on the team to learn how to readjust to his life as a teenager.

Prysm meets her parents: Her H'San Natall father, King Ch'Ah and human mother, Queen Miraset in the pages of TEEN TITANS #24 [1998]

The H'San Natall used a group called the Veil as a front for their objectives. On the outside, the Veil was an organization with one objective: Eliminate all alien influence from the planet earth. In actuality, its leader Pylon was a member of the H'San Natall. He also assumed the identity of Garrison James, an aid to Congressman Dumont. Using his influence as an aid to a congressman, Pylon was able to completely discredit the Teen Titans.

The Teen Titans were captured and brought to a H'San Natall ship for reprogramming as the H'San Natall planned the invasion of planet earth. Superman, Changeling and Captain Marvel Jr. were able to help rescue the Teen Titans. Although King Ch'Ah wanted to bring their progeny back to their homeworld, Superman threatened to bring their mothership down if they continued any further acts of aggression. King Ch'Ah stood down. Only Prysm and Fringe elected to return to the homeworld.

Culture:

The H'San Natall society is composed of different classes, including but not limited to Technocrats, Workers, The Warrior Class and the Ruling Class.

Not all H'San Natall look alike. N'Takki (also known as Pylon) is part of the warrior cast, and has rough leathery gray skin with horns protruding. Prysm's father, King Ch'Ah of the H'San Natall, resembles Prysm in appearance; His outer skin is glasslike and reflective to light. It is unknown what other members of the H'San Natall look like.

Sleeper agents:

Nine children were meant to be a new breed of sleeper agents. Their powers lay dormant until their sixteenth birthdays.

The only agents accounted for are: Risk, Argent, Joto, Prysm, Fringe and Scorcher (of Dark Nemesis), leaving three H'San Natall/human hybrids unaccounted for.

Teen Titans #1-3 [1996]: This new ongoing series takes off at full speed with "Titan's Children," Parts 1-3: A sinister alien experiment reaches its climax as five human teenagers all go "meta" at once -- living weapons in a fiendish plot to conquer Earth. Only the rejuvenated Atom can break the aliens' hold on Prism, Risk, Argent, and Joto, forging them into a cohesive fighting machine to battle the extraterrestrial threat. After avoiding capture, these teenagers are taken in by Loren Jupiter and the mysterious Omen and become the new Teen Titans. First appearance of Argent, Risk, Joto & Prysm in issue #1. First appearance of H'San Natall in issue #1.
Teen Titans #21-24 [1998] Four-Part "Titans Hunt": The final TITANS storyline by writer/artist Dan Jurgens. Deathstroke hunts the Titans and delivers them to the H'San Natall. Once there, Prysm discovers her mother, known as Queen Miraset, is alive and living among the H'San Natall. Prysm also meets her father, Ch'ah, who has a glasslike appearance similar to Prysm. Pylon reveals the H'San Natall used a group called the Veil as a front for their objectives. On the outside, the Veil was an organization with one objective: Eliminate all alien influence from the planet earth. In actuality, its leader Pylon was a member of the H'San Natall. The Titans and Superman are able to talk to H'San Natall out of any further acts of aggression. The team also discovers that Joto is alive! They rescue him, but Prysm and Fringe elect to remain in space. The rest of the team return to earth but decide to go their separate ways and disband.

in the pages of TEEN TITANS #23 [1998]

A mysterious man known only as Pylon founded a secret organization some years ago. He named the organizational The Veil. The Veil had one objective: Eliminate all alien influence from the planet earth. ‘Earth for humans' was their motto. The Veil was composed of giants of industry and finance as well as influential political figures.

The Veil first came into conflict with the Teen Titans when they kidnapped Supergirl and the man-monster, Fringe (both had alien origins). Supergirl and Fringe were subjected to experiments until the Teen Titans, with the help of Nightwing, Robin and Captain Marvel Jr. were able to free them.
The Veil continued to plague the Teen Titans. They employed a super-villain group known as Dark Nemesis to attack them. They also launched an attack against the Titans during a membership drive.

After employing Deathstroke, Pylon and the Veil at last captured the Teen Titans. Once captured, Pylon revealed his true identity as a member of the H'San Natall (N'Takki, part of the warrior cast). He also shape shifted and assumed the identity of Garrison James, an aid to Congressman Dumont. Using his influence as an aid to a congressman, Pylon was able to completely discredit the Teen Titans.

After revealing his true nature, Pylon (N'Takki) released a gas that killed all 3,500 members of the Veil.

The Teen Titans were brought to a H'San Natall ship for reprogramming as the H'San Natall planned the invasion of planet earth.

Pylon (N'Takki) returned to his homeworld as well.

Teen Titans #3 [1996]: Pylon announces his anti-alien agenda. First Appearance of the Veil's leader, Pylon.
Teen Titans #4-5 [1997]: Supergirl and a strange creature are kidnapped by a mysterious organization known as the Veil; The Teen Titans, with the aid of Nightwing, Captain Marvel Jr. & Robin, eventually rescue Supergirl and the bizarre creature that will become known as Fringe.
Teen Titans #21-24 [1998] Deathstroke hunts the Titans and delivers them to the H'San Natall. Jugular

Jugular uses his shape shifting to lethal effect in TEEN TITANS #3 [1996]

Jugular is a ruthless bounty hunter under the employ of the H'San Natall. Little is known about Jugular previous to his association with the evil alien race; He has made reference to the fact that the H'San Natall helped bio-engineer him to have extensive powers and abilities.

The H'San Natall apparently provides Jugular a crew and ship with his missions. One such mission was to bring back the H'San Natall/human hybrids that they wanted to reprogram to become their warriors against the meta-humans of earth. Jugular seems respectful of his masters, as even he feared failing in his mission.

Jugular tried to recapture the Teen Titans after they escaped the H'San Natall ship with Prysm. He was unsuccessful. On another occasion, he tried to capture Fringe, but was thwarted by Supergirl and Prysm.

Jugular has enhanced strength and durability. He can also shape shift his body and often uses this to form into different types of weapons, such as forming his arm into a blade.

Teen Titans #2 [1996]: Jugular is called to bring in the Titans. First Appearance of Jugular [last page].
Teen Titans #3 [1996]: They may have escaped from their alien abductors and made it back to Earth, but they're not home free. Another agent of the H'San Natall, Jugular, is hot on their trail. First Full Appearance of Jugular.
Supergirl & Prysm Double shot [1998]: The galactic bounty-hunter Jugular has his sights set on both Fringe and Prysm, and he doesn't care if Supergirl gets in his way.

Dark Nemesis

The deadly Dark Nemesis leaps into battle

The team is composed of the following members:

Blizzard: Not much recorded data on Blizzard. He possesses extreme cold-based powers. He and Scorcher were discovered by Axis at a ‘very special orphanage.'

Scorcher: She has heat based powers that work as a counterpoint to Blizzard's. She is also a H'San Natall/human hybrid. She and Blizzard were discovered by Axis at a ‘very special orphanage.' Axis killed Scorcher and framed Risk for her murder when she learned Scorcher was a H'San Natall/human hybrid.

Scorcher II: Recruited after the death of the first Scorcher, she also has heat based powers that work as a counterpoint to Blizzard's.

Carom: A speed demon who ricochets off walls at amazing speeds.

Dark Nemesis is a high-powered group willing to work for anyone if the money is good. Dark Nemesis first came into conflict with the Teen Titans when they were contracted by The Veil. The Veil wished to engage the Teen Titans in combat to test their abilities.

After their battle with the Teen Titans, all members except Scorcher were captured. Scorcher helped organize a breakout. During the breakout, Risk felt a psychic connection to Scorcher, alerting them both to the fact she was H'San Natall offspring. The rest of Dark Nemesis abandoned Scorcher. Before she was able to rendezvous with her teammates, she saved the lives of Atom and Risk. Axis also suspected that Scorcher was a H'San Natall/human hybrid.

At their next encounter, Dark Nemesis was once again under the employ of The Veil. As part of the plan, Axis killed Scorcher and framed Risk for her murder. The Titans were discredited and Dark Nemesis had accomplished their mission. The Titans eventually cleared Risk of all charges. Dark Nemesis remained at large.

Sometime after this, Dark Nemesis recruited Scorcher II to replace the first Scorcher.

Dark Nemesis was later hired by a mysterious boss to acquire information on the diet supplement known as Apex. Before they were able to acquire the files, they were easily taken down by a refocused Titans.
